Martin Schnur

*1964   lives and works in Vienna

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Joannis Avramidis 1985-90. Using photography as a starting point, Schnur meticulously creates multilayered compositions of human poses and gestures in front of demolished buildings and rundown flats, which are contrasted in their form and content with images of nature – primarily idyllic forests, lakes and ponds.
