Christian L. Attersee

*1940   lives and works in Vienna and Semmering in Lower Austria

He is an artist, musician, writer, object maker, designer, stage designer and filmmaker. His object inventions (1964-66) helped define European Pop Art and were the antithesis of Viennese Actionism. In the second half of the 1970s, Attersee was the founder of ‘New Austrian Painting’. 1984 Venice Biennale. 1998 Grand Austrian State Prize.

In the future, the collection will be expanded primarily through the purchases of current contemporary art associated with the art prizes. However, the jury will also recommend annual purchases to the Board of Directors to supplement the existing holdings of recent Tyrolean art history.
